Unlike many children who were told never to draw on walls, Annie was fortunate to have parents who encouraged it! She and her sisters were given a wall to decorate however they chose. With pencils and crayons they transformed it into a world of imagination. Annie earned a bachelor’s degree in studio art from the University of Arizona, then launched a career with Hallmark Cards, where she held positions as a greeting card artist, product designer, studio manager, and art director. Now retired and back in Tucson, she is a teaching artist. She and husband Bill share a home with their dogs Lucy and Lola. They enjoy a laid-back lifestyle that includes road trips and “glamping” in their Airstream Bambi.
My work is whimsical, colorful, and influenced by my love of folk art. My hands like to make things. My eyes love color. Time in the studio is divided between traditional art and digital design. In class, I stress the importance of fundamentals in building an art practice. In addition to drawing and color classes, I will offer a playful pop up now and then.
