My work is an exploration of the way light and shadow combine to define form. In pursuit of capturing this ideal on the canvas, design and color become important, along with value, and edges. All are elements of every painting, whether a landscape, still life, or most challenging, the portrait. Painting “en plein air” is the French way of saying “outdoors” – in the wind and rain and heat. I want my viewers to experience again the joy of “being there.” As an instructor, I always give demos and lots of individual attention.
