Artist Statement

Observations of human characteristics versus the natural world encompass my current body of work. Through the examination of flawed humanistic traits, I realized the vast differences between the two worlds I grew up in: a childhood split between rural agriculture and a suburban planned community set in the open desert. I was immersed in the beauty and simplicity of nature at a young age, which has allowed me to creatively reflect on human life. Plants grow in cycles, untouched by human hands; they have the opportunity to be immaculate. The distorted perception of perfection that humans often dwell upon can stand in the way of nature’s true intent.
