Tanya is a printmaker who graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003 with a bachelor’s in art history and fine arts. She teaches the fundamentals of drawing, painting and printmaking and works as the youth program director and exhibitions curator at The Drawing Studio. As well, Tanya is an independent art curator for local businesses in town, and directed the Tucson Sculpture Festival for three years. She is part of a team of artists showing art prints from Tucson’s Desert Triangle Printmakers Carpeta in Tucson, El Paso, Albuquerque, Phoenix and Mexico.
It is important to make a statement! Even when drawing from life. Printmaking helps twist that work into something stark, shocking and to me visually satisfying. Printmaking has taken my years of drafting to the next level. I believe I’ve found my artistic practice in the various forms of printmaking. As an instructor, I provide the tools and techniques of drawing, painting and printmaking – with a twist.
