March is Going Out Like a Lion: Dare to Roar

Find your expression, and roar your way to a new level of creativity. Fine tune drawing skills or discover a new medium, it’s at The Drawing Studio waiting for you.

Thanks to all of you who made the Try-It event last Saturday a huge success, and that you enjoy your prizes! Thanks also for stopping by the TDS booth at the Book Festival.

It was standing room only in the print room last Saturday at the Try It event, held twice yearly. Participants tried mini-classes as a sampler of upcoming programming. TDS teaching artist Linda Poverman waits in line for her turn at the press. What a day!

It all begins in Drawing Fundamentals. Pictured above, Christy Olsen’s Drawing Fundamentals Level 1 class draws a still life. “DF” classes meet once a week for six sessions, and have start dates throughout the year, at locations all over town. A great way to learn the basic skills of seeing – for the first time, or as a refresher. Beginning 4/5: Drawing Fundamentals Level 1 with Maria Arvayo at the Main studio; another DF 1 begins on 4/8 with Lynn Fleischman at Hummingbird House satellite.

Reminder: This is not to be missed: Plein air in Oracle begins 3/22 with Andrew Rush. Aspen watercolor painting at right by Rush.
This course meets 4 Saturdays and includes 4/5 with Pat Dolan; 4/12 with Michael Moore, and 4/19 with Betina Fink. Students work with supplies of their choice, and meet initially at Rancho Linda Vista. An extraordinary way to experience making art in the great outdoors with 4 talented teaching artists, who are dedicated to excellence in painting and drawing the land. All levels of experience welcome.
