Support Us with Your Time
With roots as an art collective, The Drawing Studio has a long history of community engagement and volunteer service. That’s still true today. Members and volunteers are essential to our annual success; no matter what you do as a volunteer, you are an essential and highly-valued member of our team.
Welcome New Students – Annually, TDS receives several hundred first-time students who come to us as beginning to advanced students. We’d like to welcome each one with a phone call, sharing more about TDS and everything we have to offer. Some students would like more information on the Drawing Fundamentals courses, others don’t know about the benefits of membership or the outreach work we do in the community. We are seeking a volunteer (or two) to contact our new students and share more about their art experiences and more. Phone calls could be completed at home, or in our studio. We are looking for a commitment of six months to a year.
Join a Membership Committee – TDS has several working committees of members who are helping to plan annual events and meet-ups, lectures, studio tours, Open Studio sessions, the annual member picnic, and more. We are seeking volunteers with experience in event planning, community or volunteer organization, fundraising, or adult education. Committee time commitments are flexible and as-needed. All volunteers must be TDS members themselves.
Solicit and Collect Art Donations – TDS is planning its first-ever Collector’s Market, a fundraiser to sell art donated art at affordable prices. We are seeking volunteers to help make phone calls soliciting divested artwork, picking up the artwork if the donor is unable to deliver it, and help with pricing pieces for sale. Helpful experience includes fundraising, retail sales, art history or gallery knowledge, and a willingness to make cold calls. We are also seeking volunteers with transportation who can pick-up art from homes.
Assist with Special Projects – Volunteers provide assistance with a variety of projects and tasks, including studio clean up and organization, mailings, newsletter distribution, and other tasks. Shout-outs for assistance are posted in our e-newsletters and on Facebook.
