Tucson’s only studio practice immersion program for youth (ages 9-13) and teens (ages 13-18) Find out more: Art of Summer youth and teen program and come to the Open House on May 18, 2-4pm. Meet teachers, tour the studio, register for classes.

What is the Art of Summer? An opportunity for young artists to explore the visual world and develop skills that will heighten their mastery and ability to observe. Programs range from 1 to 4 weeks, and include drawing, painting, sculpture and more. For more information, contact Tanya Rich, Youth Manager: youth@thedrawingstudio.org. Tuition begins at $115.00 weekly. Scholarships are available and due May 27, 5pm. All classes are held at the Downtown studio: 33 S 6th Ave.

Youth students can choose 1-3 weeks of morning (section A) or afternoon (section B) classes. The Junior Immersion: June 9-27; Section A (8:30 to noon), Section B (1-4:30). Teens study watercolor painting in the Teen Immersion program. Art of Summer students can also enroll in the Gallery Management class, and learn how to curate and install the annual  A of S exhibition; week of July 14-18. Tuition for the Gallery Management class: $100. Register.

Teen students observe giant gourds, and create tonal pastels, in the Teen Blitz. 8 days of immersion into all drawing skills, including charcoal, pastel, ink drawing, some painting and mixed media. Tuition: $270. Register.

Pen and ink wash drawing from an architectural drawing class built into the Teen Immersion program. Students worked en plein air (from life outdoors) – in the cool shade — at the historic Courthouse. Teen Immersion is 4 weeks long, but can also be taken as Part 1 (2 weeks) or Part 2 (2 weeks). Tuition: For 4 weeks/$600; Part 1 or 2: $320. Register.
